General Facility Attributes

  • Masonry Construction

  • Low Profile Building with No Building Signage

  • All Building, Climate Control, Fire Protection, Security Systems and Computer Systems are protected by an auto switching, natural fuel, Generac Backup Generator.

Climate Control

The climate control system maintains the temperature inside the vault areas within a range of 67 – 72 degrees with a relative humidity of 40%. This is midrange in the ANSI standards for storage of magnetic media.

  • The system is designed to heat, cool, humidify and dehumidify.

  • The conditioned air is circulated 24/7/365.

  • The vault maintains a positive air flow. That is, when the doors are opened, air rushes out of the vault. This keeps the vault from being contaminated with dust particles.

  • All climate control systems are monitored by our ADT system for temperature deviations of +- 10 degrees.

Fire Detection & Suppression

The DataCenter incorporates a complex control system designed to protect magnetic media.

  • 17 heat/smoke detectors distributed throughout the vault.

  • Detectors are designed to detect heat, smoke, and the pre-flame chemical make up of the air, thus detecting most pre-flame conditions.

  • The control system is connected to 610 lbs of compressed HALON 1301. The HALON is used for complete suppression of any open flame. The HALON is a residue free agent that displaces oxygen in the air thus eliminating fuel for any open flame. Other agents are currently on the market (FM200, etc) but HALON is still regarded as on of the best agents for magnetic media.

  • As an organization concentrating on disaster recovery and protection of client information, The DataCenter recommends to never sprinkle media with water. Exposure to fire is detrimental to magnetic and paper media, but suppressing the flame with water is adding damage to the media.

  • The HALON fire suppression system is connected to our ADT monitoring system and the Generac backup Generator.

Security

The DataCenter’s facility has multiple layered security built into our systems. Security can be thought of as both physical and logical. The security systems and methodology we employ is designed to make intrusion difficult and of any information time consuming and near impossible.

Examples of some of our Securities (but are not limited to):
  • ADT alarm system with central station monitoring and direct connection to police and fire offices.

  • Multiple closed circuit cameras viewing and taping all access points to the building, including docks, all main doors, reception, man-trap, parking lot, interior vault spaces.

  • Steel Vault doors.

  • Card-Key Access and Monitoring systems.

  • Door Contacts and Motion Detectors.

  • Building has no signage.

  • Recommend that no client data be displayed on media. All items are bar-coded and recognized in the software systems by the bar-code.

  • Clients are allowed to determine the level of security/authorization granted to each client employee. Clients are issued authorization cards that are required in every transaction (requests, recalls, etc)

All security systems are on a regular preventive maintenance schedule with ADT and have backup power supplied by our Generac backup Generator.

Water Detection
Even though our facility is not located in any flood areas, The DataCenter incorporates water detectors into our vault protection. These are located in strategic areas throughout the facility to notify vault personal of any moisture concerns prior to having water issues.

The water detectors are connected to our ADT system for monitoring.
